Diamond Flap Fun Fold

Welcome to Drunk Dog Creative! This week’s card making tutorial is a Fun Fold card – the Diamond Flap Fun Fold! It features a diamond-shaped sentiment flap that stays closed with a pretty ribbon, string or jute bow. The examples here feature the Stampin’ Up! Masterfully Made Designer Series Paper (DSP) and the Glorious Gingham DSP. The base cardstock and inks used feature either Berry Burst or Pretty Peacock – both of which are new to the permanent range at Stampin’ Up! Both are included in the Glorious Gingham DSP and both coordinate with the Masterfully Made DSP. Too easy!

I’ve used three different panels of the DSPs to give variety to the card. Both DSP’s used to make this card are double sided. That gives you options that will change the overall look of the card. Of course, with the whole pack of Masterfully Made DSP, and other base cardstock colours, your options are really endless!

This card also uses the Stylish Shapes die set, the Handmade Hugs stamp st, and the Very Best Trio Punch. You can click on the photos below to get more information. A complete list of products used to make this card with links to my Stampin’ Up! shop is provided at the end of this blog.

As much as I love Stampin’ Up! products, and believe they are great value, I’m also a big believer in people using what they already have. So, of course you can make this fun fold card with any colours and any patterned paper. If you don’t have square dies, you can cut cardstock into the size needed for the squares. The reason I prefer dies to just cutting squares is that they provide a clean square that isn’t lopsided and they put a lovely stitching detail around the edge which gives the diamond flap a nicely finished look. I have also trimmed the corners of my white cardstock for the inside of the card with the Very Best Trio punch – again to give it a more finished look – but you can also just cut a rectangle of paper and use it without punching the corners.
