It’s finally here!
I am so excited to announce the release of the crochet pattern for Lola’s Circle Duster! This design has been over a year in the making. This is the most complex pattern I’ve designed and I am so thankful to my testing team for helping me get this right.

This garment is a statement piece. It is meant to turn heads and draw comment – and it has every time I have worn it. The inspiration came from three things:
- my love for the yarn used – Garnmanufaktur Lola and this amazing Ornamental Fish colourway
- antique lace and doily designs
- and the fact that I couldn’t find a circle vest that was flattering to my fuller figure!
Many of the patterns out there for circle vests are based on bolero or cutaway designs. I wanted one that wrapped right around and made a bold, sweeping statement. I couldn’t find what I wanted, so I set out to design it myself! This is a one size fits most design, but I have included notes at the end of the pattern to adjust the sizing somewhat by moving the placement of the armholes which affects the width across the shoulders and the length of the finished garment.

The Lola Circle Duster is an advanced pattern that is quite complex. There is a YouTube video which is designed to support the written pattern by helping demonstrate stitch placement and tips for the tricky bits. It is not the complete pattern but does have extensive demonstration of the repeats for each round. The pattern is included below for easy reference.
Purchasing the Pattern

This pattern is only available for purchase; there won’t be a free version here on the blog. This was a hard decision to make but so much time and money went into making this pattern – not just for me but also for the testers for this pattern. The links below will take you to the various ways you can purchase this pattern. Ravelry has the pattern in both USA and UK crochet terms. If you want a kit with the pattern and yarn, I recommend Bellemae Yarns if you are in Australia. If you are in Europe, Garnmanufaktur will have kits with the pattern translated into German.
Purchase on Ravelry
In Australia, you can purchase a kit with the pattern and the yarn from Bellemae Yarns.
In Europe, you can purchase a kit with the pattern (in German) and the yarns from Garnmanufaktur.
In the interests of transparency…. I do NOT receive compensation from either Garnmanufaktur or BelleMae Yarns if you purchase from them. Garnmanufaktur did kindly send me some replacement yarn for the yarn I purchased to design this, in exchange for being allowed to translate the pattern into German and to sell it through their own store. Garnmanufaktur make Lola which is the yarn featured in this pattern. It’s one of my favourite yarns to design with and I was surprised and thrilled when they reached out to me after seeing an instagram post of me wearing my Lola Circle Duster. This is a first for me!
As for BelleMae Yarns, they are the best Australian stockist of Lola. BelleMae Yarns is a family owned business in Victoria, Australia that has an online store and a great social media group (check out the BelleMae Yarns Lounge on Facebook). The owner, Yasmin, has been incredibly encouraging and supportive of my journey. She is the one who encouraged me to start designing my own patterns. I don’t get any compensation if you shop with BelleMae Yarns and have allowed her to include the pattern in the kit to support this awesome family business . My recommendation comes from the heart!
Working with Lola
I highly recommend using Lola as your yarn for this project. It has the perfect drape and texture and colour changes for this pattern. The Lola pictured in the feature photos here is the Ornamental Fish colourway. I used 2 x 300g/1125m Lolas for this project. If you have never used Lola before, you are in for a treat! It’s become one of my favourite yarns to work with and comes in so many colour combinations!
One of the things that makes Lola different to other colour change yarns is the fact that it is stranded rather than plied. That means you are working with 4 separate strands rather than yarn that has the strands plied together into one. This can be a little tricky to get used to when you are first using it. I have a really hot tip for making this easier… use a bead on the yarn before you start. The video below explains this tip. Trust me, this will make your life so much easier!
Pattern Support Video
The video below is available on YouTube and has a link to it included in the written pattern. I’m posting it here however so it’s easy for you to find when you need it. It demonstrates each round but doesn’t provide all the information that is in the written pattern. It is designed to help support the pattern with demonstrations on stitch placement and tricky bits. You probably, theoretically, could make the Lola Circle Duster just from watching this, but I’d appreciate your recognition of the time, effort, and money spent to create this pattern. Please consider supporting this by also purchasing the pattern from my Ravelry shop, from BelleMae Yarns, or from Garnmanufaktur. Thank you.
I hope you love making the Lola’s Circle Duster pattern as much as I enjoyed creating it! Please share your photos on socials – tag #ddc #lola #ddccircleduster
