Here you’ll find everything you need to know, including the available options, pricing, and plenty of inspiration to help you design a pair of reins that’s uniquely yours.
If you need some inspiration, there is a GALLERY below as well. You can click on the photos and read the captions which will tell you the colours of rope and paracord used.
When you’re ready, simply complete the Order Enquiry form to start the conversation. There’s absolutely no obligation—it’s just the first step in creating your perfect reins together.

How Do I Decide What I Want?
Don’t worry—it looks like there are a lot of choices, but it’s actually quite simple!
You’ll make just four simple decisions:
- Choose your rein style and size.
- Choose any optional extras.
- Choose your rope and paracord colours (I’m here to help you with this!)
- Submit your Order Enquiry.
Just work your way through the steps below and you’ll have everything you need to complete your Order Enquiry. And remember, if you’re unsure about anything, we can work through it together after you submit your enquiry. 😊
Step 1: Choose Your Custom Horse Tack
Custom Rope Reins
🏹 Option 1: Horse Archery Reins
Horse Archery Reins are designed longer than standard reins, giving you the extra length needed to use them when required without having to detach them from your monkey grip or saddle horn. Not sure which length to choose? Use the chart below as a guide to finding the right rein length for your horse.
Each set includes a woggle, allowing you to loop the reins securely through your monkey grip while shooting, while keeping them within easy reach when you need to take up the reins again.
If you ride in a Western saddle with a horn, a second woggle is recommended, allowing the reins to be secured around the saddle horn while still remaining easy to access when needed.
🐴 Option 2: Standard Rope Reins
These reins are standard continous reins (ie not split) without the extra length used for horse archery reins and do not include a woggle. They’re ideal for trail riding, barrel racing, endurance riding, pleasure riding, or anyone wanting a comfortable, colourful pair of handmade rope reins. Not sure which length to choose? Use the chart below as a guide to finding the right rein length for your horse.
📏 Option 3: Custom Length Reins
Need a different length? No problem!
The size guide below shows recommended lengths for Standard Rope Reins and Horse Archery Reins across a range of horse sizes. If none of these options suit your horse, just let me know the length you need and I’ll be happy to provide a custom quote.

🆕 Lead Rope ($120) New Addition!!!
The standard Lead Rope is 300cm long (custom length possible). This comes with a stainless steel snap hook (not pictured), paracord wrap at snap hook end, and a paracord popper.

🆕 Halter ($90) New Addition!!!

Now available – Rope Halters with Paracord Noseband! Sizes available include Pony, Cob, Full, and Large Full.
Check the sizing chart before ordering. If you need something different, choose ‘custom size’ and we can have a conversation about that.

Step 2: Choose Your Optional Extras
Now it’s time for the fun extras! None of these are essential (unless noted below), so simply choose the options that suit you.
🤠 Monkey Grip
A matching monkey grip can be made using the same rope, paracord colours and trigger snap finish as your reins.
Please note: Monkey grips must be ordered at the same time as your reins.
If you ride horse archery in a Western saddle, you won’t usually need a monkey grip. Instead, you’ll probably want an extra woggle (see below).
✨ Sliding Decorative Knots
These decorative knots add a beautiful finishing touch to your reins.
Each pair of reins includes six sliding knots—three on each rein. If you’ve chosen two paracord colours, the outer two knots on each rein will be one colour and the centre knot will be the other.
The knots are firm but can be slid along the rope to position them wherever you prefer.
🔄 Extra Woggle
A woggle is the decorative gaucho knot that holds the reins together while allowing it to slide up and down the reins.
Horse Archery Reins already include one woggle as standard.
If you’re ordering Standard Rope Reins or Custom Length Reins and would like a woggle added, simply select this option on the Order Enquiry form.
If you practise horse archery with a Western saddle, you’ll need to order a second woggle. This allows one woggle to secure the reins around the saddle horn while leaving the other available to use when riding.

Step 3: Choose Your Trigger Snap Finish
Your reins come with a choice of nickel trigger snaps finishes, all of which are included in the standard price. If you’d prefer, you can upgrade to Stainless Steel or Solid Brass trigger snaps for an additional $10 per pair. Stainless Steel and Brass are hardier and longer wearing, but also heavier than the nickel finishes.
If you’re ordering a matching monkey grip, it will be made using the same trigger snaps finish for a coordinated look.
The photo below shows all of the available trigger snap colours and finishes, making it easy to choose the one that best complements your rope and paracord colours.
Note: for lead ropes a stainless steel regular snap hook is always used.

Choosing Your Paracord Wrap Style
After making and working with a variety of wrap styles, I’ve narrowed down the standard options to the styles that I believe give the best combination of appearance, coverage and practicality for each product.
For reins and lead ropes, I recommend the Cobra wrap. It provides excellent coverage and looks great from both sides. As an added bonus, the design reverses on the back — the infill and outer colours swap places — so you effectively get two complementary looks in one.
The Zig-Zag wrap is my recommended choice for halters. It provides less coverage on the back than the Cobra, which isn’t ideal for reins as the underside is often visible while riding. On a halter, however, this is an advantage: the reduced bulk makes it more comfortable where the wrap sits against your horse’s nose.
Want something different? Other wrap styles and colour combinations are still available as a custom option. Just let me know what you have in mind on the order form and we can work out a design that suits your gear and your colour choices.

Now for the Fun Part… Colour! 🎨
This is where your custom reins really come to life.
There are almost 250 paracord colours available, so the possibilities are almost endless! Don’t worry though—you don’t need to choose from all 250. That’s what I’m here for.
To create your perfect reins, you’ll choose:
- A rope colour
- Your main paracord colour
- An optional second paracord colour (if you’d like a two-colour design)
The easiest place to start is by choosing your rope colour. Then simply let me know the sort of look you’re after. You might already have a favourite colour, a colour family in mind, or perhaps you’d like your reins to match your horse, saddle pad, riding gear or team colours.
From there, I’ll suggest some beautiful paracord combinations for you to consider. Together, we’ll narrow it down until you’ve found the perfect combination.
After all, they’re custom reins—they should be as unique as you and your horse!
Feel free to browse the Gallery at the bottom of this page for some inspiration!
Rope Colours
The rope colours shown below are the most popular choices and are usually readily available.
If you have another colour in mind, just let me know. There are plenty more options, and I’ll do my best to source exactly what you’re looking for.

Paracord Colours
Now it’s time to add some personality!
With nearly 250 paracord colours and patterns available, the possibilities are almost endless. The good news? You don’t need to choose from all of them—that’s my job to help with.
The easiest approach is to tell me the kind of look you’re after, and I’ll put together a selection of colour combinations for you to choose from.
A few things that help are:
🎨 Colour Family
Think about the colours you’d like to feature, such as:
- Black
- Browns & Beiges
- Reds
- Oranges
- Yellows
- Greens
- Blues
- Turquoises & Aquas
- Pinks
- Purples
✨ Style
Do you prefer:
- Plain (solid colours)
- Diamond patterns
- Camouflage patterns
Camouflage doesn’t just mean traditional military colours—it refers to any paracord that blends several colours together to create a patterned effect.
If you’d rather browse the full range yourself, you’re welcome to! Head over to Cam’s Cords and look at their 550 Paracord range.
Just be warned… there are nearly 250 options! 😱 If you disappear down the Cam’s Cords rabbit hole for the next hour, don’t say I didn’t warn you! 😂

Don’t worry if you don’t know the names of the colours you want. You can tell me things like:
“I’d love something to match my turquoise saddle pad.”
“I want something earthy in greens and browns.”
“My horse is chestnut and I’d love colours that suit him.”
“I want something bright and impossible to lose in the grass!” 😂
I even had a customer send me a picture of her horse dressed in a medieval costume and asked me to make reins to match the costume!
